If you want to make sure that your computer is always displaying the correct time, you should sync it with an atomic clock from time to time. Developer Softros Systems has come up with an application that addresses this specific need: Desktop Atomic Clock.

Get Desktop Atomic Clock and you will have a floating clock on your desktop. Speaking about getting the application, it must be said that the download is a rather small 1.3MB. This is a good thing; it means it will take just a moment for the download to complete. And speaking about things that take little time to complete, installing the application is a simple and straightforward process. Just follow the instructions presented by the setup wizard and you will be done before you know it.

As I was saying above, if you get Desktop Atomic Clock, you will have a floating clock on your desktop. You can drag and drop the clock anywhere on the screen. If the clock is too big, select the minimized mode – this can prove to be a bit more unobtrusive.

Desktop Atomic Clock’s main function is to sync your computer’s clock with an atomic clock. To manually synchronize the clock, click the “Get” button. Once you do so, Desktop Atomic Clock will connect to an atomic clock and get the time. Your system time and the atomic clock time will be displayed side by side. What you have to do now is click adjust and your computer clock will be adjusted.

If you don’t want to manually sync the clock, you can let Desktop Atomic Clock do it automatically for you. You can instruct Desktop Atomic Clock to sync the clock at Windows start up or to sync the clock at specific intervals of time, like every 3 hours, for example.

Should you decide to get Desktop Atomic Clock and put it to the test, you must know that the application comes with a small limitation: you can use Desktop Atomic Clock free of charge only for a 30-day trial period.

Desktop Atomic Clock is a simple application that shows the time and syncs the system time with an atomic clock.

Pros

Takes little time to download and install Desktop Atomic Clock. You can place the floating Desktop Atomic Clock window anywhere you want. You can choose between a minimized and an extended window. Syncs your system time with an atomic clock, manually or automatically.

Cons

Free to use for a trial period of 30 days. Skins to customize the way the application looks might have been nicer.
